Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
A reader tipped us off to renovations happening at a storefront across the street from Fergie's Pub in Center City. Construction has been going on behind papered windows for weeks, but the sign for Cella Luxuria is a recent addition, just suspended over the 1214 Chestnut Street location within the last week or so. (Shouldn't their address say Sansom Street? We're confused. If you have the answer, tell us!)
The Cella Luxuria website is live now, and describes the interior decorator/home accessories store as a "premier destination for sophisticated interior design and furnishing" with an aesthetic that "melds modern metropolitan dynamics with the urban and industrial hybrid concept." Interesting. What do you think? Will a store be able to thrive in this out-of-the-way location? Sound off in the comments.
