Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

There's a new spot to get beautified in East Kensington: F.A.N., a boutique/salon/photo studio owned by husband-and-wife team Kristy Lee and Andreas Billig. The 2472 Frankford Avenue space operates as a full-service salon (cuts, color, updos, extensions), but with a quirky, circus-inspired atmosphere complete with jewel-toned curtains and black and white striped "tents" at each stylists' station. "We wanted to step away from the normal salon atmosphere," says Billig (also F.A.N.'s resident photog). "We created a space where our guests can indulge in more than just a haircut."

As for the boutique portion of the loft-like space, the couple's line of dark/luxe accessories, Friendandnemesis Accessories, is available for purchase, and includes spiked hair combs, leather shoe spats, unisex infinity scarves, plus totes and jewelry. Oh and PS, some of Lee's past accessory designs were rocked by Madonna and Lady Gaga.
