Sneakerheads in Philly already know this, but it seems now the fashion world is catching up: Ubiq has just been named one of the country's 10 best sneaker shops by Footwear News, Conde Nast's publication about, well, footwear news. The Walnut Street shop's position on the list is due in part to its "reputation for offering all the limited releases in one spot, including those from Nike SB," says the article.
Not only is Ubiq one of the few non-skate specific stores to offer the Nike SB line, the nearly decade-old store has gained a cult following for its collabs, like its most recent partnership with Vault by Vans and Japanese tattoo artist Hiroshi Hirakawa. The limited-edition collection of Vans, which featured Hirakawa's traditional ukiyo-e style of illustration, sold out at lightning speed. Adding to the fanfare, Ubiq hosted Hirakawa last week as he inked lucky shoppers during a tattoo shop pop-up that feted the collab's release.
