CENTER CITY—Join the Shops at Liberty Place on Tuesday, December 3, 6pm to 8pm, for the first holiday tree lighting of the season. The tree lighting ceremony will also offer photos with Santa, light bites, art and crafts, and live performances from the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus and The Philadelphia Dance Academy. RITTENHOUSE SQUARE—Not to be outdone, the annual Rittenhouse Square Holiday Tree Lighting takes place on Tuesday, December 3, at 5pm. Expect a visit from Santa, plus complimentary roasted chestnuts and all-around holiday cheer. The lighting of the tree will coincide with the lighting of the countless colored globes that set Rittenhouse Square Park aglow every holiday season. [RackedWire]

NORTHERN LIBERTIES—Out with the Brooklyn Flea Philly, in with an environmentally-friendly pop-up ice skating rink at The Piazza at Schmidts. The 5,000-square-foot rink, which will remain open through the end of February 2014, will also play host to DJs and musicians, theme nights, winter-themed movies, sporting events, food trucks, craft vendors, and more.
