Today's pick comes from Racked Chicago editor Jared Hatch.
As the remaining years in my twenties dwindle, I've started to realize that time is important. And for guys who don't shop 363 days a year like I do, I can only imagine how hard it is to find the time to shop for great-fitting shirts that look pro but don't pigeonhole you into that boring Midwestern office-y category.
A recent connection on LinkedIn, Richard Hall, led me to a basement man cave in Chicago's River North neighborhood that, as it turned out, held the perfect solution. Richard's company Hall&Madden—which he owns together with McGregor Madden—has found that sweet spot in the industry allowing them to create button-up shirts for $50 each. Here's the deal: You measure yourself or go into their basement man cave in Chicago to get fit (ladies can participate, too). Every three, four, or six months after that, they mail you three new shirts in seasonal colors for $150. The shirts themselves come unlabeled, with fabric reinforcements, thick buttons, sewn-in collar stays and a canvas interlined collar. Seriously, the collar is the best part. There are three fit options: athletic, classic, and slim fit (that's me!) which is identical to my Hugo Boss and Prada shirts, only using a more structured fabric so my lazy ass doesn't have to iron it as much.
