Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On the move from a brownstone at 1822 Spruce Street, Salon Royale Court will unveil its new, Avenue of the Arts digs next Wednesday. Under new ownership by salon employees Michael McVey and Heather Michalak, the upscale salon has relocated to a 3,300-square-foot space at 215 S. Broad Street, above Rite Aid.

Expect shampoo and styling products from Kerastase, Redken, and Moroccan Oil and a comprehensive menu of salon services. Here's the pricing breakdown: Haircuts will start at $55; full head highlights and lowlights start at $105; manicures, $22+; pedicures, $50+; and eyebrow waxing, $20+. Until Salon Royale Court opens on April 24, you can track its progress on Facebook.
