Dear men looking for summer-friendly add-ons,
Warm weather has arrived and so have the new accessories! Confusion can easily set in when trying to decide what are the must-have items this season. After paging through countless editorials and online shopping databases, here are my four accessory picks for summer 2013.
Pocket square in "Summer Rain," $65 from Armstrong & Wilson
1) The linen pocket square
These small fabric patches are typically worn, well, in a pocket. A linen version is light-weight and can easily be worn as a neckerchief. Contrast this accessory with a colored buttondown for a dinner by the ocean.
Braddock backpack in "nutmeg," $88 at United by Blue
2) The canvas backpack
Gone are the dark leather options seen this past winter. Store your weekend essentials in a slender backpack. Bold colors are acceptable, but I love the earthy shades available from United By Blue. The nutmeg color (above) is calling my name!
Hook tie bar, $65 at J.Crew
3) The tie bar
Rushing around the city can get hot FAST. Cut the blazer and add a tie-bar to ensure a tailored, non-flopping tie look. Give a nautical twist to your city look with this hook tie bar from J.Crew. This piece is slender enough to go unnoticed by most but is the perfect whimsical touch for the sartorially inclined.
Watches in "Rise Up" and "Lemongrass," $50 at Swatch.
4) The colored watch
Short sleeves and cuffed dress shirts are street style staples in the summer. With added arm real estate there is plenty of room to add a playful watch on your wrist. Techno colored bands are on trend (warm weather = color!) and Swatch has great options to try on. ("Rise Up" and "Lemongrass" are two of my favorites.) Check out more looks from Swatch at its new King of Prussia Mall location.
