Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If you haven't heard, UBRN, Inc.'s bridal label, BHLDN, debuted its first-ever shop-in-shop this week at the Beverly Hills location of its sibling brand, Anthropologie.
We're happy for our fellow Racked editors on the West Coast, but we can't help but wonder whine: Why hasn't BHLDN opened in Philly yet? Why were Chicago and Houston, the sites of BHLDN's other two brick-and-mortar locations, chosen ahead of Philadelphia? We spoke with a rep at the label, and the answer, it seems, has more to do with opportunity than anything else.
"We've chosen our current locations based off of a number of factors: where our customers are, where we see potential for growth, and where the best real estate options have been," says BHLDN Managing Director Nicole Sewall. "We'll plan for future locations the same way."
In other words, a Philly BHLDN remains a possibility; we're just waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. But don't hold your breath yet: "We do plan to move forward with the [shop-in-shop] concept in other cities, but as of now we have not settled on future locations—in Philadelphia or otherwise."
