Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Welcome to Racked Philly's search for Philadelphia's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile eight smoking candidates who work at local gyms and studios. (Not only do they look hot in spandex, but if you take their classes, you might someday look nearly as good.) Then, once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which you get to vote for your favorite (polls open Monday, August 19). Let the games begin!
Growing up, Lori Vetrano was bullied for being "overweight, Asian, and nerdy because [she] liked reading books," but the Thrive Pilates trainer is getting the last laugh. The Zumba Fitness instructor (and aspiring breakdancer) has dance to thank for her now-svelte physique and positive body image. "I'm proud of where I've gotten from where I used to be," says the trainer.
For those just dipping their toes into an exercise routine, Vetrano recommends approaching fitness as a journey and a commitment. "Anybody can make positive changes in their life," she says, "but it has to come from the inside first."
