Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Welcome to Racked Philly's search for Philadelphia's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile eight smoking candidates who work at local gyms and studios. (Not only do they look hot in spandex, but if you take their classes, you might someday look nearly as good.) Then, once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which you get to vote for your favorite (polls open Monday, August 19). Let the games begin!
Equipped with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science from Penn State, over 20 years of training experience, and a NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) certification, David Miller can recognize his clients' strengths and limits—even before they do. "[Clients] often hate me and curse me under their breath during the sessions but thank me later," laughs the hard-bodied personal trainer and owner of East Falls' D.A.M. Good Bodies Elite Personal Training.
Here's good news for clients with a sweet tooth signing up for Miller's nutrition class: The former football player subscribes to a "90/10 rule" when it comes to diet: "If you are eating clean 90% of the time, that other 10% will not throw you off track," he explains. "For that reason, I can eat a Tastykake pie almost every day and still keep my body where I want it to be!"
