We're starting to think South Street retail is on the upswing. Following Fireside Camp Supply's debut at 22th and South, word of a new men's shop, Totem Brand, just hit our inbox. Freshly-opened at 529 South Street, Totem Brand has got the woodsy, rustic aesthetic down pat with wood floors, repurposed displays, and a selection of natural candles, soaps, and incense for the manly man who wants to stay fresh.
The real selling point here, though, is the 900-square-foot store's selection USA-made or -manufactured apparel and accessories from the likes of Wolverine, Danner, Raleigh Denim, Rogue Territory, Billy Kirk, Taylor Stitch, and Pointer Brand. Our take: With the similarly-honed men's shop Ps & Qs just up the street (not to mention Corsa, Retrospect, Nocturnal...), it's a great time to be a guy shopping on South Street.
*Update* Totem Brand owner Phillip Yi adds the following: "Totem is the destination for those looking not only for today's styles, but style that has duration and durability. We aim to appeal to the 18- to 60-year-old who is looking for the classic American pieces to sustain his wardrobe that always stays current and classic."
