Hottest Trainer Contestant #2: Joe Ling

New, 1 comment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Welcome to Racked Philly's search for Philadelphia's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile eight smoking candidates who work at local gyms and studios. (Not only do they look hot in spandex, but if you take their classes, you might someday look nearly as good.) Then, once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which you get to vote for your favorite (polls open Monday, August 19). Let the games begin!

Like Contestant #1, CrossFit Novem co-owner Joe Ling brings a "work hard, play hard" attitude to his small group training sessions. "Pushing clients is key, but people come to have a good time, and I try to keep that in mind," says the Hong Kong-born trainer.

Outside of his Fishtown fitness studio, Ling preserves his sexy by running, bicycling, rock climbing, playing football or basketball—even break dancing: "I took break dancing lessons for two years, and I had a 'break dancing room' in my house with mirrors, waxed hardwood floors and all!" If you happen to pass by Ling's handsome mug in the street, wish him luck: He's hoping to qualify for Nationals for Olympic Lifting in his weight class this October.
