Welcome to Racked Philly's first annual Racked Awards, our celebration of the best and brightest of Philly retail—the local labels, designers, and indie boutiques that made getting dressed the best part of waking up over the past 12 months.
It's time for the final reader poll for the 2013 Racked Awards, our celebration of the best and brightest in local shopping and retail. Today's category is So Hot Right Now, and the nominees are seven stores and retail concepts who, over the past year, have taken over your favorite print and online publications while reaching ubiquity on social media.
If you've missed our other readers' polls, here's a catch-up: Madewell won Best New Addition to Rittenhouse Row, and Suitsupply won Best Menswear. As with all of the 2013 Racked Awards victors, our local winners—along with a full nationwide roster of champs—will be awarded the coveted Golden Turban at our gala celebration on Thursday, October 10, in New York City.
Update: This poll is now closed.
First up is Ps & Qs, the men's shop whose impact on Philly retail is twofold: First, the store is helping to put South Street back on the map; second, it houses a mix of labels (Publish, Naked and Famous, Warriors of Radness) you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in the city. Similarly, Kembrel delivers awesome shopping for the guys, putting the focus on emerging and local labels.
Relatively new to the scene, Rittenhouse Row's Aoki and Old City's The Geisha House make our list for their eclectic mix of affordable, hard-to-find labels for the ladies, while the newly-reconfigured Ritual Ritual reflects a partnership between some of the area's top up-and-comers.
Then there's Jinxed, whose use of Instagram as a selling platform makes purchasing its crazy affordable home decor items both fun and novel ("SOLD"). Last but not least, Smak Parlour is revolutionizing Philly retail with the debut of its new fashion truck . Tell us: Which store is so hot right now? You have 24 hours to vote in today's poll (polls close tomorrow at 2pm).
