Newly debuted on North Second Street by Elfreths Alley, United By Blue's Old City store melds two of the world's best things ever: clothes and coffee. (Or should we say, eco-friendly clothes and pour-over coffee from Fishtown roasters ReAnimator Coffee.) However, founder Brian Linton had a slightly more profound union in mind when thinking of a name for his do-good label of men's and women's organic cotton tees and accessories. He explains:

United By Blue got its name due to the universal truth that we are all, indeed, united by blue. That is, the blue parts of the world—the water—give life to everything. The birds, the fish, the moose and mosquito, you and me, we all need water to live, and in this way, we are all united by it. United By Blue is symbolic of the importance of protecting our world's oceans and waterways. By using a business to fuel real and meaningful conservation efforts, we are able to have a tangible impact on our environment.
