The skyrocketing rental rates that priced Joan Shepp out of her longtime spot on Walnut Street may have been a blessing in disguise. ("I was going to have to sell gold if I wanted to stay on Walnut Street," she told the Weekly Press last week.)
Shepp's eponymous boutique has found a shiny, permanent home at 1811 Chestnut Street—a two-story, 9,200-square-foot space within the lower levels of the Belgravia. The new location, slated to open this spring, holds the promise of being Shepp's best store yet. An increase in square footage will enable Shepp to expand her menswear offerings and lifestyle items, the scope of which has yet to be announced. What's more, the Chestnut Street shop comes complete with an outdoor space destined to become a fresh-air waiting room for purse-holding husbands. The store's exact opening date is still a mystery, so stay tuned for updates.
