Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The first day of March will mark the debut of Without Walls, Urban Outfitters' new house brand of athletic apparel targeted to 20-somethings hoping to keep it toned between art class and DJ gigs at The Barbary. Funky printed leggings, colorblock men's windbreakers, and a longsleeved unitard are among the label's offerings, which will be complemented by gear from Asics, Vans, Poler, Patagonia, Mowgli Surf, and a handful of other already-established outdoors/fitness brands.
Without Walls will be shoppable online and in select Urban Outfitters stores throughout the country, but as Be Well Philly reports, we won't find the goods in Philly—an especially prickly backhand considering URBN Inc. (the parent company of Anthropologie, Terrain, Free People, BHLDN, and Urban Outfitters) is based here in the City of Brotherly Love.
Just for the sake of adding fuel to the fire, it's worth noting that URBN. Inc also passed over Philadelphia when choosing host cities for its bridal brand, BHLDN. Does not compute.
