EAST PASSYUNK — Top Chef winner Nicholas Elmi's restaurant, Laurel, is currently booked through June, which is as far out as they'll take reservations. But for one night in April, he's bringing his crew up the street to cook in the "indoor food truck" at Garage, offering the rare opportunity to sample some of his food alongside skeeball and canned beer.
AVENUE OF THE ARTS — Volver, Jose Garces' new showpiece at the Kimmel Center, still doesn't have an exact opening date set, but they did drop a bombshell this week: tickets for dinner will go on sale mid-March. Yup, Garces has adopted a pre-paid ticketing approach to reservations, and it's now looking like it's going to be the priciest tasting menu in the city.
BELLA VISTA — The Good King Tavern, the cozy French brasserie that's one of Eater's all-around favorite newcomers, just introduced brunch. In addition to the supremely welcoming space, cut-above food, and classic cocktails that go beyond mimosas, this brunch has one more big perk: it runs on Fridays in addition to the weekend.
OLD CITY — As if we need more reasons to look forward to summer, chef Michael Schulson (Sampan) announced plans this week for a massive Independence Mall-adjacent beer garden to open this summer, with plenty of food and booze and shuffleboard.
