Germaphobic Barbie's nail salon of choice, Lacquer Lounge, is opening a second Philly location, this time in Rittenhouse Square. Scheduled to open April 8 at 20th and Walnut, the 850-square-foot salon boasts similar decor as its sister location in Queen Village: impossibly white furnishings and fixtures offset by magenta accents and the candy colors of polish bottles on display.
"Our superior commitment to sanitation is still the forefront of our mission," promises Lacquer Lounge owner Lisa McElhone. Abrasives and pumice stones are only used once, while other tools are Autoclaved in a high pressure steam unit and placed in individual sterilization pouches. What's more, whirlpool spa chairs are a no-go here: "They harbor bacteria and cause infections," McElhone says. Good to know.
