Welcome to Racked Philly's search for Philadelphia's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile eight smokin' hot locals—fitness experts who not only look hot in spandex, but can make you look amazing too. Once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which readers vote for their favorites (polls open Thursday, August 21). Let the games begin!

Gavin McKay has a deep, dark secret—okay, two secrets: He eats carbs, and he doesn't even work out every day. The horror! The president and head coach at Philly's Unite Fitness ascribes to the mantra of "everything in moderation," and he's not into extreme diets or workouts, despite what his abs might have you believe.

The trainer's journey to ab-tasticness begins in Bucks County, where McKay was born and bred. After earning a degree in Engineering at Cornell, McKay got a fast-paced consulting job in Manhattan, a gig that proved unfulfilling and led the future trainer to do some introspective soul searching while traveling the globe. He returned to Philly with a two-foot-long, scraggly beard (kidding), an appreciation for meditation, and a newfound sense of purpose: "to help inspire and teach others to take better care for their mind, body, environment, and other people." He founded Unite Fitness, a fitness training and nutrition program, eight years ago, leaving his "rat race" days way in the past.
