Welcome to Racked Philly's search for Philadelphia's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile eight smokin' hot locals—fitness experts who not only look hot in spandex, but can make you look amazing too. Once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which readers vote for their favorites (polls open Thursday, August 21). Let the games begin!
We're not sure that a three-paragraph can do justice to our seventh Hottest Trainer 2014 contestant, but we'll give it our best shot. Here we go: Personal trainer Aaron Sistrunk endured some turbulence before he reached his cruising altitude of successful entrepreneurship and rock-hard pecs. Born in Philly, this inner city kid beat the odds to earn his degree in Physical Education from Dover's Wesley College, where the beefcake also starred on the football team and was the president of his fraternity.
In the 18 years since Sistrunk started his career in personal training back home in Philadelphia, he's lent his expertise to people of all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances. He's mentored "at risk" kids; provided physical therapy to new moms, cancer survivors, and joint replacement patients; and helped both amateur and pro athletes (including Phillies players Jesse Biddle and Jimmy Rollins) reach peak physical condition.
Somehow along the way, Sistrunk managed to find time to launch his own personal training studio, A-Game Fitness and Performance, in Flourtown. But the success and accolades aren't Sistrunk's raison d'être. " I have a beautiful 13-year-old daughter who is the light of my life," he says. "She's the reason why I get up every morning." Excuse us while we go gently weep in private.
